Group overview
EP Group is a pan-European diversified industrial conglomerate with activities across energy, logistics and wholesale & retail. During 2025, the Group significantly expanded its operational footprint and business mix following the completion of several major acquisitions, most notably:
- METRO AG, establishing a large-scale pan-European wholesale and food distribution platform;
- International Distribution Services plc (IDS), represented by Royal Mail and GLS, creating a new logistics pillar with exposure to parcel delivery and postal services;
- Slovenské elektrárne, a.s., leading carbon-free power generation company in Slovakia, strengthening the Group’s position in power generation.
As a result, EP Group today operates across multiple essential sectors, supported by a diversified portfolio of infrastructure and service businesses. At the end of 2025, EP Group employed approximately 265,000 people and operated in more than 45 countries worldwide.
Operational developments
During 2025, EP Group further strengthened its three core business pillars:
- Energy, which continues to provide a stable earnings base supported by a combination of regulated, contracted and market-based activities, with total net power production reaching 87 TWh in 2025;
- Logistics, where the Group established a new platform with pan-European reach, delivering significant volumes including 5.9 billion letters and 2.4 billion parcels;
- Wholesale & Retail, creating a large-scale food distribution and wholesale business supported by an extensive store network and growing digital and foodservice capabilities.
