The EP Corporate Group Foundation, established by entrepreneur Daniel Křetínský, redistributed more than CZK 232 million to its grant programmes in 2023, thus gradually fulfilling its goal of becoming the largest corporate foundation in the Czech Republic. Funding was directed to two main areas: support for bereaved families with dependent children where one or both parents have died and support for older people living alone. In addition, the Foundation helped Ukrainian refugees integrate in the Czech Republic.
„Our goal is to lend a hand to bereaved families who have found themselves in difficult life circumstances through no fault of their own, be it by providing funds to run the household or psychological support in public counselling centres. We also strive to ensure a dignified life for older people who, thanks to our contributions, can afford care in their homes where they feel comfortable,“ said Jitka Pražáková and Petra Kačírková, directors of the Foundation.
The Bereaved Families Programme supported 143 families, among whom the Foundation distributed more than CZK 90 million, an increase of more than CZK 70 million compared to 2022. Almost CZK 9 million more was spent on psychosocial care for the bereaved, enabling hospices to open 21 public counselling centres.
Through the Programme for Seniors, the Foundation supported a total of 40 non-profit organizations that help older people in their homes. Caregiving and personal assistance service providers were thus able to increase the number of hours of care for older people. In addition, 17 volunteer organizations were supported to help older people reduce social isolation. The Foundation also provided financial support for the training of staff in 47 care organizations.
The EP Corporate Group Foundation, established in 2021, spent more than CZK 315 million to help those in need during 2022 and 2023, supporting 170 bereaved families, over 150 organizations and more than 20 public counselling centres for the bereaved. The vast majority of the funds distributed by the Foundation to those in need have come from donations from companies belonging to the EP Corporate Group, especially Energetický a průmyslový holding (EPH) and its subsidiaries.
